Certification

To earn Master Naturalist certification, you must:

Complete the five (5) core workshops
30 hours of volunteer service.
16 hours of advanced training.

To maintain Certification each year:

20 hours volunteer service.
16 hours advanced training.

Core Workshops

There are 5 core workshops that all Master Naturalists must complete for certification. Each core workshop is detailed below. Additional workshops will be offered which can be used to fulfill the Advanced Training requirements.

Introduction to Ecology

This workshop explores the concepts of Ecology and the ecosystems that are found in the state of Oklahoma.

Prairie Ecology

This workshop delves into the organisms that are found in Oklahoma prairies, the interactions between these organisms, and the functioning of the ecosystem. We also discuss the types of prairies in Oklahoma and where they are found.

Forest Ecology

This workshop delves into the organisms that are found in Oklahoma forests, the interactions between these organisms, and the functioning of the ecosystem. We will also discuss the types of forests in Oklahoma and where they are found.

Wetlands Ecology

This workshop delves into the organisms that are found in Oklahoma wetlands, the interactions between these organisms, and the functioning of the ecosystem. We will also discuss the types of wetlands in Oklahoma and where they are found.

Urban Ecology

This workshop delves into the organisms that are found in Oklahoma urban areas, and the interactions between these organisms. We also explore environmental issues that are unique to urban environments, include stormwater runoff, heat island effect, etc.
